Learn to Ski

The Friday Junior Program is dedicated to providing alpine and nordic ski instruction to children of Woodstock and surrounding towns. Programs are currently open to children in grades 1-6 in Woodstock, Barnard, Bridgewater, Pomfret, Bethel, Sharon, Hartland, South Royalton and the Mid-Vermont Christian Sc

hool. Classes are taught by volunteers who attend clinics given by our professional skiers and coaches. Instruction emphasis is placed on safety and fun, with encouragement to learn skills in a relaxed atmosphere.

The program encompasses 8 weeks, beginning the first Friday in January, with a break during winter vacation in February. Specific dates are enclosed with application forms, typically distributed to each of the above-noted schools in early October.

The alpine program is held at Suicide Six on Friday afternoons from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Children must be dressed warmly, with appropriate equipment and in their assigned group by 1:55 with classes underway promptly at 2:00. Rental ski equipment is available from the Suicide Six Ski Shop. Skiers should be fitted before Christmas vacation.
