Killington, VT. Ski Runners U12 racer Levi Halley enjoyed a breakthrough day on Saturday, finishing a strong fifth in the Vermont Alpine Racing Association (VARA) Mid-Vermont Council U12 Giant Slalom. Levi had a two-run total time of 59.27 seconds, just 3 seconds off the pace of race winner Richard Underwood of Killington Mountain School.

Levi’s teammates Michael Oliver O’neill, Jack Quicker, and Graham Fox also had successful days, completing both of their runs and finishing in 26th, 36th, and 43rd place respectively.

In the girl’s race, Alexandra Carnehammar led her Ski Runners teammates by finishing 16th with a time of 1:07.01, about seven seconds adrift of winner Bridget Waters of Okemo Mountain School. Abigail Galton finished 27th, Killington Word Cup Committee Scholarship recipient Willow Clifford 37th, and Samantha and Isabella Mundel in 40th and 42nd position respectively. Unfortunately, Lucie Mato was one of 7 skiers who failed to finish her first run on Killington’s difficult “Highline” race trail, but overcame and skied a strong second run.
