About our Nordic Programs

Woodstock Ski Runners offers nordic ski programs for children ages 6-14. Skiers learn basic nordic ski skills including both skating and classic style technique. Coaches work with all levels of skiers to assist them in skill and fitness development. Skiers are encouraged to participate in competitive events held on weekends around the region in order to further develop their skills. The goal of our program is to give children a solid introduction and appreciation for the sport of Nordic skiing.

Important general information including program costs is below. For details on the right program for your child, please click on the individual program pages to the left!

Participation Fees for 2017-2018

Online Registration link will open October 21, 2107 here.

Please notice that we are not having the wreath sale this year and needed to add a club membership fee of $150 per family to help cover operating costs. The club membership is per family and is not included in lollipop only families registration.

Program fees fund only fund about half of our operating costs. It is essential for all Nordic runners families to participate in the various Woodstock Ski Runners fundraising efforts. Please see below for more details.

A late fee of $30 will apply after December 1st –Contact Chris Henderson for late registration details at woodstocknordic@gmail.com.

All skiers must purchase a Woodstock Nordic Center discounted team season pass for $75 paid for when the center opens for the season.  This pass allows skiers access to the facility and trails all season long. Trails need proper grooming and maintenance for safe skiing and this is what this pass covers. We encourage skiers to ski as much as possible outside of practice to develop basic ski skills.

NENSA Membership fee: $25 of your registration is for your New England Nordic Ski Association membership. NENSA works to keep youth skiing thriving in New England and organizes many regional events including the NE Bill Koch Festival. We will send the membership fees in for you. Please visit their website for more details www.nensa.net

WSR Fundraising DOES help our Nordic Program

We encourage all families to participate in any all Woodstock Ski Runners fundraising events. Our program operates with 50% fundraising so it is important to attend all WSR fundraising events to ensure our program sustains and thrives. There will be no Wreath Sale this year. We look forward to Winter Celebration. We also appreciate your contributions to our Annual Appeal

Saturday Family Hikes

We encourage families to get out and hike together.  We will travel to different locations every Saturday in the month of November.  Come meet other nordic families, gain fitness and learn about different hiking trails in the area. Schedule to be announced!

Racing

We encourage families to participate in the local youth races. The events are low-key and children find it enjoyable to be around other skiers from around New England. At the end of the season many New England skiers get together in a 2-day ski festival.  This year it is located in Weston, Massachusetts.  Please “save the date” and try to make this a priority in your child’s ski season!  There are races, activities and overall a time when children on skis are celebrated.  The NENSA website has posted all details including suggested lodging and discounted rates.
